Is it necessary to use a screen when burning logs? A wire, mesh screen is an important safety precaution that should always be used whether you are burning a log or firewood. Can I burn more than one log at a time? No. logs were designed to eliminate the need for adding more fuel and tending a fire. The wax component of the product produces twice the BTU per pound of wood, allowing one log to provide a fire equivalent to several pieces of wood. Burning more than one log at a time could result in too large or too hot a fire in your fireplace. For outdoor fire pits or fireplaces, our specially designed multi-log crackling log can be used in a 2- or 3-log fire. Can a log be used to start a fire? It is not recommended that logs be used firestartertool as starter materials for a wood fire. A log provides more fuel content than necessary to start a wood fire. However, Our company markets quick start and firestart natural wood firelighters, which are made from similar materials and are specifically designed to light wood fires. Is it okay to burn logs on andirons? No. logs should be burned on an adequate supporting grate. logs tend to soften while burning and need support to assure maximum burn time.

Position logs properly. When building a fire, place logs at the rear of the fireplace, on an adequate supporting grate. Burning logs on grates with parallel bar spacing greater than three inches does not provide adequate support and may result in log breakage, flare-up and/or reduced burn time. Do not use pokers or tongs to move logs. Unlike firewood, logs are designed to burn in a controlled manner and do not require tending. Use of tongs or pokers can cause a log to break apart and expose more surface area to the air - increasing the burn rate and resulting in a shorter fire. Do not use in wood stoves or BBQs. Do not use for cooking.

Is there a wax residue left in chimneys by manufactured logs? No. In fact, independent tests show that manufactured firestartertool logs leave significantly less creosote in chimneys than natural wood. Depending upon burning conditions, a small amount of carbon or graphite-like material may be deposited in the chimney from burning logs. This material is a different type of residue than creosote deposits. It has almost no BTU heat value and is not combustible. Use in Fireplaces Can logs be burned in all types of fireplaces? logs are Underwriter Laboratories (UL) Classified for use in zero-clearance manufactured metal fireplaces and are suitable for use in all types of traditional open hearth fireplaces. logs should not be burned in wood stoves or wood stove fireplace inserts. Check for the UL-Classification mark on the firestartertool package before buying.
